Currently, there is no point in buying DDR5 because it is ridiculously expensive. DDR5 modules with 16GB or 32GB of RAM typically cost $300-400, which is twice as much as the average DDR4 memory kit. Those prices do not even account for scalper prices; on eBay, DDR5 kits can be found for prices ranging from $500 up to more than $1,000.

Ultimately, the cost of DDR5 is simply way too high right now.

DDR5 memory modules aren’t the only thing you would have to spend money on. Your new motherboard would also have to be DDR5-compatible (as would an Intel 12th Gen CPU like the Core i5-12600K).
