You guessed it right, the more powerful a motor is, the steeper the hill it can climb.

By climbing angle, we mean the steepest hill the Megawheels S5 electric scooter can climb easily.  According to their website, Megawheels S5 can comfortably climb hills as steep as . Compared to the swagger classic 2 e-scooter, this is far better. Most of the scooters in this category can only manage hills around 15.  There are some which are limited to only .

Maximum load capacity

Peoples` weight varies. There are average human weights and there are those classified as heavyweights. The Megawheels S5 is designed to support approximately 120 kg (or 265 lbs.). This is very impressive. Most of the e-scooters for adults I have checked before support up to 90 kg (approximately 200 lbs.). You may not weigh 120 kg but you can use the extra weight capacity to carry other things. This is why this is the perfect scooter for delivery.

The scooter itself weighs 27.5 lbs. (12.5 kg). You can carry it upstairs with a lot of ease.

The weight your scooter is carrying at a given time determines its range. Heavier loads mean very short range. Vise versa is true.

Lights

It is not all scooters in the market that comes with both headlight and taillight. The Megawheels S5 e-scooter is one of the few e-scooters that have this feature. E-scooters that have lights have a lot of benefits to you.

It is so unfortunate that the braking system is not regenerative type. It would have helped increase the range as is the case with electric cars.

Quality and design of Megawheels S5 electric scooter.

The Megawheels S5 e-scooter is an aesthetically designed scooter. It has a matte black color that is very appealing to the eyes.  As of writing this article (the year 2021), Megawheels S5 comes in one color only, matte black. It has a very strong aluminum alloy frame. The aluminum alloy frame benefits you in many ways. One, it is very light so you can carry it easily. Two, it is very strong to support a lot of weight. You can carry up to 120 kg on your Megawheels S5 without any problem. Let’s look into the design in more detail.

Foldability

It is not all scooters that you find in the market that are fordable. When we discussed e-scooters with seats, we fold that a good number of them were heavy and not foldable. Megawheels S5 on the other hand is very foldable.  This is one of the design features that makes it very desirable.

Both foldability and light weight make it easy to carry it around. If it happens to have a low battery, you can carry it with you on other public transport. You would have no problem when you come to crowded places.

Lastly, the foldability attribute of the Megawheels S5 makes it easy to store in very small and compact spaces such as a locker. Did I mention you can keep it in the trunk of your car? Well, you can.

When folded, Megawheels S5 measures 43.7 x 16.5 x 16.9” or 111 x 42 x 43 cm. When not folded, it measures, 43.7 x 6.5 x 47.2” or 111 x 42 x 120 cm.

Deck

The deck is where you place your feet. A wider and longer deck is preferred because it offers, you ample space for your feet. Besides, it is common knowledge that the width of the deck is a contributing factor when it comes to the stability of your scooter.

Attached to the end of the deck in the rare is a fender. The fender plays two roles. First, it protects the rare tire.  Secondly, it features the rear brake disc. When you want to stop, place one of your feet on the fender.

The power cabin is not located on the deck but in the stem.

The height of Megawheels S5

Megawheels S5 has a fixed height of 1.2 m (120 cm or 47.2”). Though there are scooters with adjustable heights, this e-scooter is understandably designed with such height because of the power cabin. The height of an average human is 1.3 m so 1.2 stem will not present any problem.

Furthermore, the height of the stem does not determine how fast a scooter can go or the amount of load it can carry. Height, if anything, can only affect your comfort as the rider.

Pros and cons

Megawheels s10 vs S5

There are many notable differences between Megawheels S10 and S5. The former features higher attributes than the latter. For starters, while S5 comes with a 5800 mAh battery, S10 comes with a 7500 mAh battery. This means an extended range for the S10.

While the S10 comes with 8.0″ wheels, S5 boosts 8.5″ wheels. The wheels are pneumatic for both cases.  They both do not have a suspension system.

The weight of the Megawheels S10 and Megawheels S5 are equal (27.5 lbs. or 12.5 kg) and so is their maximum load capacity (265 lbs. or 120 kg).

The motors are also equal, 250 W.

From my perspective,  the only difference between them is in the range they can cover due to different battery sizes and wheels.

What to look for in an electric scooter

What to look for in an electric scooter is a function of what you need. What you need is determined by what you want to use your scooter for and where you will use your scooter. Take for instance if you need to use your scooter in an off terrain setup, wheels will be a major factor; you would need to go for scooters with suspensions.

In general, however, the battery, wheels, electric motor, seats, lights, and speed are factors that are considered most. The battery and the electric motor carry the most weight. The battery determines the range you can enjoy and the motor determines the amount of power your scooter will give you. The more powerful your motor is, the steeper the hills it can climb.
